PLR stands for Private Label Rights which means the content can be re-written and personalized by adding your name as the author. When working with PLR content it is actually very important that you rewrite it using your own words and voice. There are several reasons for this:
- Avoid duplicate content. Search engines do not like duplicate content and your website or blog will get ranked very low, or not at all, if you use duplicate content.
- PLR articles are usually not very well written. Most PLR articles are not well written at all. The articles contain spelling and grammar mistakes and a lot of the time do not make much sense.
- Website and blog visitors are looking for original, interesting content. By posting PLR articles without rewriting them you are not giving your readers anything new and they are unlikely to return.
PLR content can be anything from articles to e-books to programs available for download. Make sure to read the file containing your rights which normally comes with PLR content. Some publishers allow you to break e-books into articles, or turn articles into e-books. Breaking an e-book down into several articles is a great way to use PLR content.
Use a program such as Microsoft Office when you first begin re-writing PLR articles. I know Microsoft Office is expensive, but it has the most useful tools for writers. There is actually a built in function that will underline sentences that are not written well. Right click on a sentence Microsoft Office has underlined and it will show the sentence re-written correctly. This is great for re-writting PLR articles as it not only saves times, it helps you to turn poorly written articles into well written articles worth posting.
The top three ways of using PLR content:
Use PLR e-books and programs is to give them away in a contest. People love contests and will enter to win a free e-book or program. Free contests are always a great way to drive traffic to your website or blog as well.
Allow visitors to download an e-book or program in exchange for joining your mailing list. If you do not have a mailing list, start one.
Add PLR content such as articles, e-books, and programs to your members area. Good content always adds value to your site. Use a few of the best PLR articles you have on your front page, to attract visitors and retain them.
